Androgynous Rex

A huge hello to all my new followers. I am clicking through every single one of your blogs to say a personal 'allo so bear with me if I haven't popped round yet :)

Fun title, no?

I was featured on the brilliant urban magazine that is Fashion Bomb Daily this week. Whilst it was nice to know that my style is not a 'Hot Mess' it did make me think of that question of personal style and how we come to define ourselves in our style box of choice. Since I started blogging I get asked to define my 'style' quite often and I have by now composed a short sound-bite that I can reel off at the drop of a hat. However, one of the comment on the feature made me realise that I omit a description that underscores practically every outfit I choose to wear and my over-arching personal style: my love of androgynous fashion (not to be confused with masculine). I have always had that androgyny 'vibe' about me. It is in the way I look, the way I carry myself, the societal roles I choose to play and of course the clothes and accessories I wear.

I dreamt, as a teen, of a wardrobe filled to the brim with Commes De Garcon, Junya Watanabe and Vivienne Westwood; Clothes that look structurally hard to wear but on the female body, married with the right attitude, ooze as much sex appeal as a tight fitting bandage dress. And it pleases me to know that I have managed to retain this 'vibe'. So yeah, this post is a reminder to myself, should I be asked, that I like to look 'well 'ard'!

What would you say inspires your style and what style box do you choose to identify with?

Growing Pains

I have been eagerly awaiting delivery of my Net-A-Porter sale binge goodies so you can imagine how disappointed I was to arrive home this evening to find a 'sorry we missed you card'. Now I ask you, is it unreasonable to expect when Hubby states he is "working from home today" for him to be doing exactly that. Working. All day. From home. And not out 'getting lunch' when DHL comes calling...

I turned to these aggressively beautiful heels to lift my mood. And what my family refer to as my baby-grow!

Weardrobe has not only been very kind to me in the past week with numerous front page features but by also bringing lovely new bloggers my way. Welcome to you all! Do say allo in the comment box as I love to chat :)

Black Swan

I tried to see the titled film last night but alas a tiny cinema and people that know what they are doing a week in advance kept me from achieving my objective. Never mind I thought, I will mosey on home and recreate my own fashionable drama...

Urban Nomad

Super excited. Why? No, not because I have the nuance to carry off a turban on my head without feeling/looking like a total pleb (I am having a really bad hair week) nor is it because my Lita's have finally arrived, 2 months later and with a ridiculous customs charge attached.

I am off to Paris in less than 48hrs for a long weekend with my hubby. I have never been before but already I can imagine the giddiness that will swarm over me as I set foot into major lure Raphael Young's flag-ship Paris store. Kill me now! Ad if I am really really really good I might, just might, convince a certain person that what I really need in my life (say it after me) is another pair of shoes...
