Feline Fantasy

I knew a guy called Marco once. He was a cobbler, one of those old school types. He had a shop in the random-est part of south London and I used to pop in to get my shoes re-heeled, as you do. We got chatting one day and it transpired that he made shoes to order. Yes, as in couture. I was sold, instantly. I placed an order for not one but 4 pairs. All I then had to do was take in a pair of well fitting shoes of mine (+ save up a serious amount of wedge/dough/readies) for him to make a last of, which he then used to construct my shoes.

One of the pairs he made me was the leopard skin beauty that you see below. I have had this for years but have actually never got round to wearing them. Yes, I have put them on my feet and paraded around my house on numerous occasions. I have shown them off to friends and family alike but still I have never stepped foot outside in them. Until now that is. They deserve to be worn, not just admired and I intend to do something about it!

I am WOman, hear me roar

I seriously love that tag-line. Thank you Helen Reddy for tapping into a million consciousnesses when you coined this. I love what it embodies; the power and strength it contains, the possibilities it encompasses. It has me thinking of primal beings and territorial warriors protecting their own. There is a fierceness about it but also a vulnerability. The strongest of us are those that are not afraid to bare our hearts and roar out loud. I am woman and I am not afraid. Let your voice be heard, let your spirit be felt and revel in your freedom. You will not be silenced, you will not be broken. You are a liberated being.

We are WOman, let them hear us roar.

Luvvie in Training

Most people get to a certain age and decide to take up BASE jumping, have a second child or go for that promotion at work. I decided what I needed was to play.

So, I enrolled at a CDS Drama school (10 years later than planned). Play comes in the form of 40+ hours a week attending classes in Acting for Stage, Clowning, Stage Combat, Singing, RP, Voice, Pure Movement, Accents & Dialects, Sight Reading, Acting for Radio, Voice-Over, Poetry Recitation, Improvisation, Dramaturgy, Mime, Contact Improvisation, Story-Telling, Animal Studies, Mask, Oration & Political Speech, Yoga, Acting for Television, Feldenkrais and others I can't think of right now. And yes, I have personified the elements and nature on many occasions.

I might reference these arsenal of skills I am acquiring every now and then whilst using wanky terminology such as 'arsenal of skills' but do not be put off; My feet are firmly placed on the ground, encased in my newest pair of 5" heels!

Flat Out

The title was inspired by my choice of footwear but over the course of the day it has taken on more of a literal meaning. I am seriously (that word again!) rushed off my feet trying to get everything ready for Thursday. What is happening on Thursday I hear you ask? Oops, did I forget to mention that I am off on holiday. C'mon I must have mentioned the epic holiday at least once? No? Okay, okay, well now you know.
Why the sad face? Oh, you think I am going to leave you wanting in my absence. Well, fear not. I have you in mind and shall be lining up some posts due to miraculously appear, as if by magic, even when I am as far away from a computer as possible. Like on a beach in Mexico or cooing at turtles on the Galapagos Islands.
Expect a post to drop every Wednesday without fail until my return. It should almost be like I haven't gone anywhere. Almost....
Miss me! I promise to come back with lots of goodies from foreign shores x

High Jinks

Something for the weekend you may be thinking and you would be right there. I am in no fit state to be updating this but try I will. Had a gathering at ours yesterday and epic does not quite cover it. Needless to say I am still suffering for/from it. The only wonder is that we have managed to restore order in our house so easily and when I say 'we' rest assured that my lazy self is referring to my hubby's sole effort all the way.

Note to self: must get better at tidying up....
